So far you’ve not quoted one Bible verse linking Ishtar or Eostre to the
Bible. And even when you try to find supporting evidence you link Christian
scholarship that DISPROVES your contention.

So which of us is insane? The one who agrees with Biblical scholars and
uses the Bible as a source when required - or YOU, the one who can’t find
one word in the Bible that supports your point, quotes scholars who debunk
your theory … and yet still contends your anti Biblical, anti Christian
stance?

Easter is the English word for the events of Holy Week. Eggs and bunnies
are symbols adopted by Christians - eggs from the time that the Lenten fast
was a vegan observance (in all but name, as veganism hadn’t coalesced as a
concept at the time), so at the end of it there was a glut of eggs that
needed to be eaten or disposed of. Bunnies from the Germanic habit of
describing March’s boxing hares as the heralds of the Easter month,
exported to America and cutesified. There were never any celebrations of
Ishtar or Eostre that were suborned by Christians.

This is in contrast to the deliberate establishment of Christmas in
December to try to supplant or take over the festivals of Mithras and
Yuletide, two separate pre-Christian traditions in midwinter.

Instead of parroting crazy phrases, why don’t you engage in discussion?

Here are some things you could do:

1) search the Bible for mentions of “Ishtar” or “Eostre” as per your
claims. Feel free to use a search engine and as many versions of the Bible
as you like.

1a) If you find one, post chapter and verse. Congratulations! You have
made a good point in the debate and those of us who say there are no such
mentions will look foolish. (Probability- 0%, because imaginary things
can’t be found).

1b) When you can’t find one, because there are none, ADMIT YOU WERE WRONG
and reconsider your position. (Probability of the first part - 100%.
Probability of you being honest about it - on your
past record, infinitesimal).

2) READ the article YOU linked and consider its conclusions. There are
links to further reading that support the article at the end of the
article. Then post back with your considered thoughts on the article and
any evidence-backed counter arguments you might have. (Probability of you
being open-minded enough to try this - infinitesimal.)

3) Post another meaningless non-sequitur that would be insulting if it came
from someone intelligent, but instead is just risible. (Probability - 90%
plus).

You know, Mike, I didn't read the asswipe's link...but I do remember
being told what I quoted from your post from other sources:

The first time I heard it was from my minister when I went through my
Confirmation classes.

The second time was again from my minister, a different minister than
the one that taught my Confirmation classes (and different church in a
different state). He said pretty much the same thing the first minister
said, and said it /almost/ verbatim to what you wrote. This minister
said this just last week...in Church...on Easter Sunday.

There were undoubtedly more that these two times where this was brought
up...but these are the two times that stick out in my memory.

I would say let's not be harsh against the asswipe's minister. It could
be that he is also telling people these things...it's just not, for some
reason, not getting through the asswipe's head.
