I am beating Brian and Jimmy to this: This week's vacation related FC strips are recycled Billy drawn art from a week long arc from February 1989 or March 1989 - But Daddy's name replaces the Bil Keane name.

July 11, 1988, when it was in...you know.

The Post (35 cents) told us all about Cincy's Bicentennial celebrations that weekend. Good Morning America was here. ABC had the All-Star Game the next night from Riverfront Stadium. Scalpers were charging as much as $1500 for seats. Those wishing not to celebrate could go.see Tom Hanks in Big. Incidentally, the Reds beat the Phillies 5-4. Rookie third baseman Chris Sabo led the team with a .312 batting average. In the Post comics, Calvin was in the air. 'This has to be a dream", he said. "Whenever you fall from two miles up in the sky, you look down, gasp and suddenly wake up." He gasped, sure enough. Four times.

Family Circus is still 100 percent recycled in 2023. When will.this ever end?

Today's recycled FC is from July 12, 1988 when it was in...you know.

The Post (35 cents) devoted much of the issue to the 1988 Major League Baseball All-Star Game, being held at RIverfront Stadium. Representing the Cincinnati Reds: pitcher Danny Jackson, shortstop Barry Larkin (a Hall of Famer) and third baseman Chris Sabo, who I told you about yesterday. Former Red Jeff Russell was representing the AL as a member of the Texas Rangers. Speaking of the HOF, 15 players in that game are now enshrined in Cooperstown. The game is on Channel 12. Elsewhere, Michael Dukakis selected Lloyd Bentsen as running mate for the 1988 Democratic Presidential ticket. Harrison Ford turns 46 tomorrow. I bet he didn't ever imagine he would still be playing Indiana Jones in 2023. In the Post comics, Calvin was still flying around. "I wonder if my life will flash before my eyes," he noted. "That's the problem with being six years old. My life won't take very long to watch. Maybe I can get a few slow-motion replays of the time I smacked Susie upside the head with a slushball."

The last two days of FC have been from July 13 and 14, 1988, when it was in...well, you know. Thel's hair was tweaked in today's episode.

As for the Post (35 cents), it reported that the American League won the All-Star Game 2-1 at Riverfront. Oakland catcher Terry Steinbach was named MVP.. The Reds were beginning the second half of the season at Montreal. Speaking of which, the Reds traded outfielder Tracy Jones to the Expos. The Reds got catcher Jeff Reed, outfielder Herm Winningham and someone named Randy St. Claire. Debbie Gibson played Riverbend. Now playing : a rerelease of Bambi and Die Hard. In the Post comics the last two days:

Family Circus is still 100 percent recycled in 2023. When will it ever end?

Today's FC is from July 15, 1988, when it was in...you know.

The Post (35 cents) told us that, a decade after playing Music Hall, Jimmy Buffett brought out the Parrotheads to Riverbend for a sellout show. We had gotten to Indianapolis for a Garfield exhibit at the Indiana State Museum six days earlier. My mother asked me, whatever happened to Jimmy Buffett? I had to tell her about the he was selling out the place. Get a Beef and Cheddar sandwich at Arby's for $1.25! The Post reviewed Bambi and Die Hard. (It was the Barbenheimer of its day.) Speaking of which, the number one movie in America was, well, Coming to America. Tomorrow, a one day sale at Sears. In the Post comics, Calvin had stopped whirling around. His mother asked, "Where have you been? I've been calling and calling. Your dinner's cold, I'm sure." Calvin told his parents the story of how he was transmogrified into a safe and how a light particle had him "zipped back home instanteously." Then Calvin was on a chair, saying that "of course, if I'd known we'd been having THIS, I wouldn't have harried." Mom replied, "Sometime you should try transmogrifying yourself into someone who occasionally makes an ounce of sense." By the way, it was my father's 53rd birthday.

Family Circus is still 100 percent recycled in 2023. When will it ever end?

The Post (35 cents) told us that preparations were underway for the Democratic National Convention in Atlanta. Nelson Mandela - at the time in a South African prison - turns 70 tomorrow. The Reds beat the Montreal Expos 6-3 thanks to a homer by Eric Davis. They meet again tonight on Channel 5. Now in theaters: License to Drive. In the Post comics, Calvin was told by his father to "pick up all the sticks and fallen branches in the yard." Calvin wanted to know if he was going to get paid. Dad said a dollar. Calvin exploded, saying "A DOLLAR? I WON"T DO IT FOR LESS THAN TWENTY-FIVE!!" Dad's response, "In a minute, you'll do it for nothing, just because I told you to." Calvin then said, "I'll take the dollar." Dad replied, "Smart kid."

When will this ever end?

With my Billy-imposed vacation last week over, I'm back to track Recycled FC. Today was from August 8, 1995.

Thel's hair was tweaked. The caption was exactly the same.

The Post (35 cents) told us how people were getting ready for the launch of Windows 95. The Reds were idle, but they were going to play Atlanta at the Launching Pad tonight. It's on Channel 5. Jimmy Buffett (boy, he has been mentioned a bunch on this thread) added another Riverbend show. Now playing: A Little Princess. In the Post comics, Calvin told Hobbes that "almost everywhere you go, you can hear people, radios and all kinds of engines.. When you're actually confronted with the stillness of nature." Hobbes then responded, "Why you can even hear yourself think." Calvin then responded, "This is making me nervous. Let's go in."

Family Circus is still 100 percent recycled in 2023. When it will it ever end?

Today's installment of Recycled FC takes us back to August 14, 1995.

The art and caption are exactly the same.

The Post (35 cents) told us about the death of Mickey Mantle, who died the previous day. I met him four years earlier. As for baseball in the Slick administration, the Reds lost in Florida 6-4 to the Marlins. Now in theaters: Dangerous Minds, which nad a number one soundtrack. In the Post comics, Susie was walking. When she saw something, she ran off. It was Calvin, who looked like he was pregnant. He noted, "It's hard to conceal a water balloon."

Family Circus is still 100 percent recycled for 2023. When will it ever end?
