A sculptor who works in plasteline for bronze, Dorcas MacClintock has a studio attached to her home where two Collies are constant companions, and smaller furred and feathered animals come and go..

After graduating from Smith College, MacClintock pursued a masters degree in zoology at the University of Wyoming. She has studied at the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts under noted sculptors Elisabeth Gordon Chandler and Laci de Gerenday, and enjoyed summer workshops with Gerald Shippen.

In 2003 her work was featured in "Wild Heritage: Leslie Delgyer paintings - Dorcas MacClintock sculptures" at the Hiram Blauvelt Art Museum. A longtime member of the Society of Animal Artists, her work has appeared in their annual Art and the Animal exhibitions and tours at museums and galleries throughout the US and Canada. Her work has also been included in juried annual shows of the National Sculpture Society (Brookgreen Gardens and New York City), Art of the Animal Kingdom at the Bennington Center for the Arts, Animals of the World: the Artist's View at the Smithsonian's Conservation and Research Center (Front Royal VA), and in exhibitions of the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club.

A curatorial affiliate at Yale Peabody Museum, she is the author of 10 books on natural history, as well as numerous magazine articles. She also lectures frequently on animals in art.

Her awards include the Bott-Borghi-Bransom Legacy Award, Society of Animal Artists, 2007. the Anna Hyatt Huntington Award, Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, 2006, Smith College Medal, 1987, Science Book Award, New York Academy of Sciences, 1974.

Signature Member of the SAA and AFC, she is currently listed in Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in American Art, and Who's Who of American Women.
