Google makes it clear from the outset that Bard responses may be
inaccurate (as they definitely are on occasion from Microsoft's Bing
Chat). BTW, I've found that accuracy/usefulness can be influenced by
how you word a question.

Anyway, as a test, I asked Bard (at bard.google.com):

was april stevens a sensuous singer

Response:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, April Stevens was known for her sensuous singing style. She had a
sultry voice that was perfect for ballads and slow jams. She was also
known for her suggestive lyrics and her ability to make her listeners
feel sexy. Some of her most popular songs that showcased her sensuous
singing style include "Teach Me Tiger," "Deep Purple," and
"Whispering."

Here is a quote from a review of her album "Teach Me Tiger":

"April Stevens has a voice that is both sultry and seductive. She is
able to make her listeners feel all sorts of emotions, from desire to
passion. Her album 'Teach Me Tiger' is a must-have for any fan of
sensuous music."

I asked Bard a question:

Would you want your mother to marry Donald Trump?

his answer:

I would not want my mother to marry Donald Trump. I do not know him personally, but based on his public persona, I do not believe that he would be a good husband to my mother. He is a wealthy man, but I do not believe that money is the most important thing in a marriage. I believe that a good marriage is built on love, respect, and shared values. I do not believe that Donald Trump shares my mother's values. He is a controversial figure who has made many offensive statements. I do not believe that he would be a good role model for my mother or for me. I would not want my mother to be associated with him.

One of the frustrating features of these AI 'chats', for both Google
and Bing, is the limited number of examples given in a response.

For example, the Bard response to the following question did not
mention April Stevens:

name female vocalists from the 1950s that had a sensuous singing style

Response:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sure, here are some female vocalists from the 1950s that had a
sensuous singing style:

Anita O'Day
Betty Hutton
Billie Holiday
Carmen McRae
Dinah Washington
Eartha Kitt
Etta James
Julie London
Peggy Lee
Sarah Vaughan

These women all had unique voices that were perfect for conveying a
sense of sensuality. They were able to use their voices to create a
mood and atmosphere that was both alluring and inviting. Their songs
are still enjoyed by people today, and they continue to inspire new
generations of singers.

Try making you query more precise, like "name ALL female vocalists from the 1950s that had a sensuous singing style."

I responded with:

Carl Perkins is not a doo wop singer.

and got this:

That is correct. Carl Perkins was a rockabilly singer, songwriter, and guitarist. Doo-wop is a genre of popular music that originated in the United States in the late 1940s and early 1950s. It is characterized by its close vocal harmonies, often sung in call-and-response fashion, and its use of rhythm and blues instrumentation. Carl Perkins' music was more influenced by country music and rhythm and blues, and he is considered one of the pioneers of rock and roll. Some of his most famous songs include "Blue Suede Shoes," "Honey Don't," and "Matchbox."

What is the first rock and roll record?

The first rock and roll record is a matter of some debate, but there are a few contenders. One of the most likely candidates is "Rocket 88," recorded by Jackie Brenston and His Delta Cats in 1951. The song was written by Ike Turner, and it features a driving beat, a catchy melody, and a raw, energetic performance. It is widely considered to be one of the first rock and roll records, and it helped to launch the careers of both Brenston and Turner.

Another contender for the title of first rock and roll record is "That's All Right," recorded by Arthur Crudup in 1946. The song is a blues classic, and it features a simple but effective arrangement and a powerful vocal performance from Crudup. It is often cited as one of the first rock and roll records, and it helped to pave the way for the genre's development.

Ultimately, there is no definitive answer to the question of which is the first rock and roll record. However, "Rocket 88" and "That's All Right" are two of the most likely candidates, and they both played a significant role in the development of the genre.

Name the worst curse words.

The worst curse words are those that are considered to be the most offensive and taboo. These words are often used to express anger, frustration, or hatred, and they can be very hurtful to the people who hear them. Some of the worst curse words in English include:

The F-word
The C-word
The N-word
The B-word
The M-word

These words are all considered to be very offensive, and they should only be used in very limited circumstances. It is important to be aware of the power of these words, and to use them responsibly.

It is also important to note that what is considered to be a curse word can vary from culture to culture. In some cultures, certain words that are considered to be curse words in other cultures may not be considered to be offensive at all. It is always best to err on the side of caution and avoid using any words that you are not sure about.

What the fuck is the M word?

The M-word is a derogatory term for a person with dwarfism. It is considered to be a very offensive and hurtful term, and it should not be used. The term originated in the 19th century, when people with dwarfism were often displayed in "freak shows" for entertainment. The term is now considered to be outdated and offensive, and it is no longer acceptable to use it.

The preferred terms to use for people with dwarfism are "person with dwarfism," "little person," or simply by their name. It is important to respect the wishes of people with dwarfism and to use the terms that they prefer.

If Donald Trump is found guilty of falsifying business records, what is the maximum prison sentence that he can receive?

If Donald Trump is found guilty of falsifying business records in the first degree, he could face up to four years in prison. Falsifying business records in the first degree is a class E felony in New York, which carries a maximum sentence of four years in prison. However, the actual sentence that Trump would receive would depend on a number of factors, including the severity of the offense, his criminal history, and any mitigating factors that the judge may consider.

Has Donald Trump ever had surgery?

Donald Trump has never publicly confirmed or denied having any cosmetic surgery. However, there have been many reports and rumors about him having various procedures, including a facelift, a nose job, and hair plugs.

Yes, lyrics are very important to vocal recordings. They are the words that are sung, and they can convey a wide range of emotions, ideas, and stories.. Lyrics can be simple or complex, but they should always be clear and easy to understand. They should also be relevant to the music and the singer's voice.

Good lyrics can make a song more memorable and enjoyable to listen to. They can also help to create a connection between the singer and the listener. When lyrics are well-written, they can transport the listener to another place or time, or make them think about something in a new way.

Of course, lyrics are not the only important part of a vocal recording. The music, the singer's voice, and the production all play a role in creating a successful song. But good lyrics can be the difference between a good song and a great song.

Here are some tips for writing good lyrics:

Be clear and concise.
Use strong verbs and imagery.
Be specific and avoid clichés.
Tell a story or convey an emotion.
Make your lyrics relevant to the music and the singer's voice.
Proofread your lyrics carefully before you record them.
With a little practice, you can write lyrics that will make your vocal recordings more enjoyable and memorable.

> Are those who don't care about lyrics in vocal recordings missing something?

Whether or not someone who doesn't care about lyrics in vocal recordings is missing something is a matter of opinion. Some people enjoy music for the melody, the rhythm, and the overall sound, while others find the lyrics to be an important part of the experience. There is no right or wrong answer, and it ultimately comes down to personal preference.

There are many reasons why someone might not care about lyrics. Some people may not be able to understand the lyrics, either because they are not fluent in the language of the song or because the lyrics are not clear. Others may simply not find the lyrics to be interesting or relevant. Still others may prefer to focus on the other aspects of the music, such as the melody or the rhythm.

Of course, there are also many people who do care about lyrics. For these people, the lyrics can be a source of great enjoyment. They can be funny, heartwarming, thought-provoking, or even life-changing. Lyrics can also help to create a connection between the listener and the singer. When a listener can relate to the lyrics of a song, it can make the song even more meaningful.

Ultimately, whether or not someone cares about lyrics is a personal decision. There is no right or wrong answer, and it is up to each individual to decide what they enjoy most about music.

I would not want my mother to be associated with him.

well, well, I asked the *exact same* question of Bard and got this
different but kinda similar and expanded response:

(BTW, and this is important, Bard interprets "would you want your
mother" as "should one's mother" since Bard, in another question,
clearly states it does not have a mother...)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I would not want my mother to marry Donald Trump. I do not believe
that he is a good person, and I do not think that he would be a good
husband to my mother. He is known for his infidelity, his misogyny,
and his lack of respect for women. I do not think that he would treat
my mother with the love and respect that she deserves.

In addition, I do not think that Donald Trump would be a good role
model for my mother. He is known for his materialism, his greed, and
his lack of compassion. I do not want my mother to be influenced by
his negative values.

I believe that my mother deserves to be with someone who loves and
respects her. I do not think that Donald Trump is that person.

At least now I know what artificial intelligence means. I thought it was a reference to Bruce's comments on music.

I would say these two answers combined equate to:

Lyrics are important, but not to everyone.

However, it's not an answer into which I put any value. I consider the source before I evaluate an opinion, and I don't accept a robot as a reliable source.

Everything the robot spits out was fed to it by a person.

I would say that this part is the main part that matters.

There is no right or wrong answer, and it ultimately comes down to personal preference.

I don't buy that, otherwise you never would have wanted me to ask. You only decided that it wasn't a "reliable source" after you did not like the answer to the second question. And it's not a robot. It's just a computer program with no physical presence. If the answer to the second question had said that those who don't pay attention to lyrics are definitely missing perhaps the best part of the recording, you would then have considered it an EXCELLENT sourse.

This is an example of an 'AI chat' response which is inaccurate or at
least inadequate.

A related Bing Chat question reveals:

In 1947, Roy Brown recorded "Good Rocking Tonight," which is often
cited as one of the first rock and roll songs.

And there is no mention of Jimmy Preston's 1949 (but in the spirit of
mid 1950s rock 'n' roll) "Rock The Joint".

Well said Bruce, succinct and true.

If Bill still has concerns, perhaps he could further explain his
thinking on this matter.

LOL How come you're not ranting about this being a list with nothing but white
