Phil D hosted the worst oldies show I ever heard on commercial radio. He was a terrible curator when it came to the music. He even mixed in polkas, for Christ's sake!

My friends and I would tune in to Phil D's show just for laughs. We couldn't believe an 8,000-watt commercial FM station would let him on the air. Seriously, the guy sucked!

He didn't own WHYN, but he brought his own advertising to his show. And that made it even more absurd!

Springfield, home of WHYN, is near the Connecticut state line, but all of Phil D's sponsors were from Greenfield--which is near the Vermont state line.. So for five hours each Friday night, WHYHN temporarily became a Greenfield station! Like I said, absurd.
