This is the groups list view:

The thread will always show newest on bottom. You would need to jump to the
end to find the latest.

If you are logged in, then group list view there will be a link '(New)'
under the group name, and it would show all the new articles posted since
the last time you entered the group, latest on top.

It will also move the groups you read to the top (as Subscribed).

Not by thread, just by posts in the group.

at Nova, my PC will not let me click to another page because
the "+" in the newsgroup name is not auto converted to "%2B"

I think I fixed that about 30 minutes ago. If it still doesn't work please
let me know.

Currently, messages expire in 3 years, or 100,000 articles per group,
whichever comes first.

I do not plan a permanent archive, just the ability to interact with more
recent discussion as it is now.

A huge archive going back decades probably becomes cumbersome fast.

There are others working on that, but most not with a web interface.

I do run a news server that has articles back to 1983, but you'd need a
newsreader to read them.

I've always used a newsreader (and currently I'm not getting any spam
whatsoever in this newsgroup because of a simple filter set up
within the newsreader; I also have an effective filter for the 1950s
binary newsgroup which is: "message-id: ngPost" )

My current low-cost Usenet server has messages going back to about
2003.

The news server with old articles is just that, only old articles and
mostly groups that are no longer used.

You can access at news.novalink.us port 119

If you mean an active server, I run news.i2pn2.org. (www.i2pn2.org). It's
is a spam filtered server, but it is not the server with old articles.

One thing I've always wondered about is the genesis of the company
name for Apple Computer. The books I've read about the computer all
say that Steven Jobs had fond memories of working in an orchard one
summer and thought that Apple would be a friendly sounding name. But

the Beatles' Apple Corp. The Beatles' Apple was intended to be a

PS Oddly enough, the Beatles Apple also spawned a major technological
invention. The first commercially working CAT scanner (tomography
machine) was built by G. Hounsfield using Beatles money!
