> 1. WOO-HOO, The Rock-a-Teens (1959)

One of my favorite tracks on their 1960 Roulette LP “Woo Hoo” is about the rockin’ lady below
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNVMnvuG_pM

> 6. WILL YOU, WILLYUM, Janis Martin (1956)

They all knew each other and their paths crossed many times since they all came from the same locale in Virginia

> 2. AT MY FRONT DOOR, The El Dorados (1955)

Here’s a group giving Pat Boone a good run for his money on who has the worst cover on this one
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-SMhWveEeI

> 3. THIRTY DAYS, Chuck Berry (1955)

Surprisingly good cover from 1955
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQSCkdGcA1w

> 4. BAMA LAMA BAMA LOO, Little Richard (1964)

Richard’s short lived return to Specialty saw him cut this one at a 1 May 1964 session at Radio Recorders in Hollywood.Backing musicians included Dewey Terry (gtr) Don “Sugarcane” Harris (bs) and Earl Palmer (dms).Three tracks were recorded including the one above plus the “B” side of the resulting single “Annie Is Back”. The third track was a spirited revival of Don Weise’s 1956 “Poor Boy Paul”

> 5. BLUE MOON OF KENTUCKY, Elvis Presley (1954)

Comes in at a healthy #5 on my list of 1954 favorite records

Shake,Rattle And Roll Joe Turner
Good Rockin' Tonight Elvis Presley
I've Got A Woman Ray Charles
That's All Right Elvis Presley
Blue Moon Of Kentucky Elvis Presley
Shake,Rattle And Roll Bill Haley & Comets
Work With Me Annie Royals (Midnighters)
Annie Had A Baby Midnighters
Earth Angel Penguins
Gloria Cadillacs

> 10. BOOK OF LOVE, The Monotones (1958)

What did this record ever do to deserve one of the VERY WORST covers ever!!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pMvuU9kdvc

> 13. ONLY THE LONELY, Roy Orbison (1960)

#1 on the UK NME chart for three weeks in October 1960 until deposed by a very belated “It’s Now Or Never”

> 18. ABIGAIL BEECHER, Freddy Cannon (1964)

I never liked Freddy “Boom Boom” at all I’m afraid. Wait…not quite true...there’s just ONE I liked by him—“Buzz Buzz A Diddle It”

> 24. BLUEBERRY HILL, Fats Domino (1956)

Here’s Fats doing this huge hit on “The Ed Sullivan Show” November 18 1956
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6H_sxI6jG8

> 27. GEE, The Crows (1953-54)

The 1954 pop version
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sXcKmTwyhg

The 1954 mambo version
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbm5a3L5JG0

> 34. JUKEBOX SATURDAY NIGHT, Nino & The Ebb Tides (1961)

Don’t care for this one much but I always liked their “Those Oldies But Goodies”. And in preference to the big US hit Little Caesar & Romans version too (which version we never got over here---no,I don’t know why either)

> 35. I SOLD MY HEART TO THE JUNKMAN, The Silhouettes (1958)

I like several versions of this song including the one above---but its back to 1946 for the original---and IMO the best---version

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmhAQbKo3C4

> 37. DEDICATED TO THE ONE I LOVE, The Shirelles (1959 / 1961)

My favorite version that beats even the “5” Royales in my book

> 39. POOR JENNY, The Everly Brothers (1959)

Not top tier Everlys but still one of my favorites by them from the Cadence years

> 42. LITTLE DEUCE COUPE, The Beach Boys (1963)

Amazingly never released here at the time as a single as neither was “Be True To Your School” both big US hits. WTF???

> 45. DREAM LOVER, Bobby Darin (1959)

#1 here on the NME chart for 4 weeks in July 1959 until deposed by Cliff Richard’s “Living Doll”
