I don't get Debussy. It sounds to me like musical graphomania, or graphorrhea. But I felt the same about Puccini when I first attended a performance of La Boheme unprepared 45 years ago.

I found out a lot about Debussy when I was having a heart procedure. These take a bit of time and you're conscious and just lying there. My surgeon was a violinist as it happens, and he asked if I'd like some relaxing music. Stupidly I asked for some Debussy. Let me tell you if you don't know already, Debussy is NOT relaxing music apart from one or two media faves like Clair de Lune.

I solved the music request with Siegfried's Rhine Journey. Now THAT is slow and relaxing. Just the thing for a heart procedure if you're planning one.
