L'Enfant is a score I revisit regularly, mostly with Maazel. Sometimes I check out other versions, but not Rattle which is pretty dire. He was in my year at the Royal Academy of Music in London and I remember him conducting the score while he was a student there. Quite an ambitious score for a student, but he was clever very early on and it went well. It's always good fun live. Magdalena Kožená is miscast, to my taste........ "jobs for the boys" is a bit of a lottery at the best of times.
