The pianist passed away last night at a great age and so a rich tradition of Romanian pianists - Lipatti, Haskil, Katz, Lupu ended. Gheorghiu was also perhaps the last surviving student of Lazare Levy in Paris.
His discography is not large, but we discover in it both a virtuoso and a sheer poet.Some were made alongside his late brother Stefan, an esteemed violonist and teacher.
Number of his recordings were shared here in the past, including his own Trio and Piano concerto Perhaps some of those might be reuploaded here.

I had a record of him playing Chopin which I very much enjoyed. That must have been in the 1960s. I think it was:
Ballad #1, Gm Op. 23
Nocturne In F Sharp Major, Op 15 No 2,
Impromptu No. 2 In F Sharp Major, Op. 36,
Andante Spianato & Grande Polonaise Brillante, Op 22,
Fantaisie In F Minor, Op. 49.

I Have a LYS CD of Gheorghui playing the Concerto #1 and Brahms Paganini Rhapsody, recorded in 1952 with the Czech PO conducted by George Georgescu. Why the latter doesn't have a couple of haitches in it, I don't know. Come to think of it, why isn't it "aitch?"
