So far I’m intrigued by

Drama
Meditation
Requiem
Fleeting Melodies (well, maybe it’s kitsch, but still . . .)
Secret Songs (not kitsch IMO)
First Quartet (the other two are also not without interest I think)

I only have these recordings that I've just started listening to:
"Silent Songs" (DG, with Krimmel & Grimaud)
Symphony No. 5, Postludium (Sony, with Robertson/Lubimov/DSO)

Are these a good place to start?

I don't know the 5th symphony -- but I do know Silent Songs. I've sampled Krimmel and Grimaud and they seem to perform them like lieder! . The result is a whole lot of not very interesting Russian lieder! Sergey Yakovenko and Ilya Scheps on ECM are much much more challenging -- and IMO much more rewarding, even without following the text. The experience of listening to them is not totally unlike listening to late Feldman. You keep trying to remember whether you've heard this before.

The first quartet is excellent - my introduction to Silvestrov was my teacher, Josef Bardanashvili (who is also Silvestrov's personal friend), playing me a recording of that quartet and showing me the score, left a strong impression on me.

The first quartet was very influenced by Rochberg’s third quartet. When you know it you can kind of hear it - though I have to say I much prefer Silvestrov’s music.

I think all three quartets are worth a listen - to some extent all good examples of the Silvestrov’s polystylism .

By the way, for quartets 1 and 2, let me recommend the recording by the Lysenko Quartet, which is now streaming on Spotify. It also included the mid century modern Quartetto Picolo and a delicate and introspective solo violon piece.
