"The evening's final induction, and the highlight for many, was Paul McCartney's loving tribute to John Lennon, a touchingly personal series of recollections delivered in the form of a letter to Lennon: 'I remember visits to your mum's house -- Julia, a very handsome woman.' He recalled being piled in a 'Beatles sandwich' in a crowded van back in the early days. Even the most jaded viewer got misty-eyed when McCartney ended his speech with: 'This letter comes from your friend Paul. John Lennon, you've made it. You're in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.'"
