Ave...
I'm listening to this album over and over:

https://www.discogs.com/fr/release/7573155-Mal-Waldron-Quintet-Featuring-Gigi-Gryce-And-Idrees-Sulieman-Mal-1

The "Yesterdays" theme fascinates me...
Does anyone know who composed it?...
Thank you...

Yesterdays was written by Jerome Kern in 1933. Billie Holiday sang this well - she catches the irony.

I'm not much of a fan of Mal Waldron, but that's just me.

I'm quite lowbrow - I like listening to jazz (Woody Shaw today) and young singer-songwriters. The sounds of the 2020s. Here's a couple I've been listening to recently

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21CU-p2fiCs&t=1083s. Crumb the Band

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ausQKndtQ9w. I know the singer Hilda Dahlgren - she's very poetic.

Mal Waldron was influenced above all by *Ellington*, *Monk* and, of
course, *Mingus*... My three favorite jazzmen !...
What's not to like about Mal Waldron ?!...I'm not asking...

Some of my favorite Jazz is Scott Joplin, but it's
usually recorded in a spiritless way.

Recently RCA has released "The complete works for piano" played by Dick Hyman, on 3 discs.
Are these recordings less spiritless?

Steadiness is boring.
