Yet another something i remember from these liner notes i don't have anymore: working with orchestra was initially challenging, and the conceptual solution was to think of Frédéric Blondy as the instrumentalist and the whole orchestra as his instrument. However the process did also include meeting with each section of the orchestra separately to nail down a sense of what everyone's meant to be doing.

I think you're right, perhaps more accurate (and also more interesting) to think about how such necessarily different creative processes are bent towards such similar sonic results...

I think I sometimes find long dhrupads overbearing in basically the same way you describe finding Radigue overbearing. And I rarely listen to dhrupad any more even as the conceptual mechanics of dhrupad continue to resonate very broadly in my listening and thinking. I guess with dhrupad it becomes hard to hear the melodic development as doing anything other than establishing and reestablishing the sophisticated harmonic space, but then the harmonic space remains static... but it's just my own limitation. Meanwhile Radigue offers no melodic anchoring but the harmonic space shifts constantly.

I'm glad to hear they're continuing to perform it. I saw Lamb was
at the Proms this summer too, so I guess she's doing well.

I want to say, I think there’s something special about Naldjorlak. I’ve only got the original recording with Charles Curtis. I just saw that there’s a second, live, recording on Bandcamp.

My first impression was that it seemed like a not terribly successful sketch for ideas later explored in Occams. Like, too prescriptive, too much motion to fully sink in, I don't know exactly. But it's been a while and I haven't heard the new recording...

It was Nadjorlak iii which caught my attention most last night, a delta piece for two horns and a cello. I’m listening to it again now this morning and I still feel very positive about it.

Part of it may be that I like Charles Curtis, for reasons I couldn’t possibly explain. There’s an Occam piece on this CD

Exactly that. The sound fills the room with great presence, and it is a quiet sound. That’s one of the things that’s hard to reproduce at home.
