Not sure if anyone is interested but this morning all of Marc-Andre Hamelin’s recordings have been made available by Hyperion for streaming. It’s an amazingly large and wide discography running from Haydn to late 20th century works by Feldman, Ornstein Bolcom and others. Other Hyperion pianists added as well today.

Guys... I think after Mozart my favourite composer is actually Brahms... and then Bach and only after that Beethoven... not really sure though, but I'm certain about the first 3.

I am tending towards Schoenberg a little bit (again not sure); at least he strikes me as being a better musician wrt form... but what I know is that I really find them very uninteresting compared to Mozart or Beethoven or Schubert or Brahms... and that I do not need them.

WRT Beethoven... I probably would put him beneath 4, maybe more than one place... I just don't like his music very much... I relistened to much of his piano solo music, his pcs, his symphonies, his quartets and violin sonatas.... and the stuff I somewhat like is most of the times filled with so much heroic and triumphant nonsense, that I just can't take it... there are unforgettable moments in the 9th; especially in the first and 3rd movement... but heck...wtf is up with the 4th movement... what nonsense. Really. Never liked it and never will.

I'd likely put Schubert above Beethoven... there are really beautiful moments in Beethoven, and I like some movements very much... but overall Schubert gives me much more...

I especially can't connect with Beethoven's piano sonatas and quartets... I prefer Schumann's piano solo music over Beethoven's. And I'd also rate Schumann's chamber music higher than Beethoven's... maybe I actually prefer Schumann over Beethoven...

The Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin was founded in 1982 (East-Berlin, GDR)
and to my knowledge never had a leader. They work(ed) with various
conductors and concertmasters or no conductor at all. The orchestra is
still very active.
