Not the first vinyl disc. There were previous 78rpm vinyl discs. And not the first 33 1/3 rpm discs. Some of those were made in the 1930's. But definitely the first 33 1/3 rpm LONG PLAY vinyl disc.

Yes, you are mistaken :). In addition to the early 30s discs Julius mentioned there were later red vinyl RCA 78s, and the label Concert Hall’s 78s were almost (maybe entirely?) pressed on vinyl….sometimes black, sometimes red. I can’t remember if Columbia pressed any 78s on vinyl. I have a vague memory of an Oscar Levant Tchaikovsky concerto on vinyl 78s, but my memory might be playing tricks on me.
