OK discussion. I'm an academic and as such I've had to mark hundreds and hundreds of essays. If I had to mark this idiot's rantings it would be a "fail", and the text would be covered in red with frequent comments like "evidence?" and "anecdotal...". He's just blowing off steam, and when you talk about academic matters a basic rigour is required. The majority of student essays are capable of this. He is not.

So what have you got against academics? Are you a self-made man, shining shoes in the daytime to pay for night school where you studied computing?
What's this bitterness and envy against those who had a top class education?

OK then, DK and MS. Time to tell you some home truths about university education. I have been Course Leader for 2 different university courses, an MA course and an undergraduate course. When you launch a new course you go through an intensive process which involves writing a 12 to 24 page Study Guide which has to include all teaching sessions, with itemised factors like aims, method (normative, informative etc) plus all the assignments, written or otherwise that go with the course. This weighty document, which takes months to write, then goes through several stages of committee meetings with the senior faculty members before it is signed off. The process takes 6 months to a year. Then in the first year of the course a designated lecturer from the faculty attends a selection of lectures and marks them on a further lengthy and itemised report which again goes through more committee meetings. The course is then reviewed again every three years or so by the faculty.. Believe me, academics spend a LOT of their time in committee meetings evaluating courses and examination results using strict criteria. Courses and examination results are also evaluated periodically by external experts in their field before being signed off.

That's the reality of university education. The chances of "Barbarians being at the gates of discourse" in such a tightly monitored and taught syllabus are about the same as a snowball lasting 24 hours in a blast furnace. Just won't happen. Statements like "We have allowed out educational institutions to become captured by the enemies of civilization itself and transformed into barbarian incubators..." are IGNORANT, stupid, grandiose and just plain nonsensical. All I need to know is that many students and teachers in our university system seem to admire Hamas. And that university officials are loathe to condemn this evil. This tells me that there is something wrong with the educational system.
