David Del Tredici, whose lush ‘Alice’ music won a Pulitzer, dies at 86.
He wrote cerebral atonal pieces before turning to a warmer sound in the
late 1960s, when he started adapting Lewis Carroll’s ‘Alice’ books into
concert music.
