A huge loss. I am gutted by this news, although it is not unexpected. Mr. Caniell is now in his nineties. Salut to one of the greatest labels in the history of records!

NOTICE
TO ALL OUR PATRONS

As of April 2023 we have ceased to advertise our new releases in Fanfare. We have now altered our release schedule from twice a year to every few months. Some of these releases may be reviewed in Fanfare. These are steps we must take in reducing our operation on the way to closure sometime up ahead. As it stands, we have some 15 broadcasts in the works to which will be added a number of Toscanini performances. In all, we’ve covered our prospective releases through the end of 2024. We expect to go from there despite our advanced ages until we can no longer continue. When that occurs, even though we will then no longer release new sets, the Music Society will continue it’s operation in supplying past releases from our archive. We continue to prize your interest and generous support of our endeavour.

We are now going to contact our customer base by sending out an email update newsletter with flyers about each of our newest releases. Some of you who do not receive Fanfare may not have visited our site for a number of years.. Our catalogue of sets has expanded to approximately 185 albums. We welcome those persons to visit our site (www.immortalperformances.org). Please be sure to acquaint yourself with our index (http://immortalperformances.org/documents.php?d=13) that lists all the sets available (with a few exceptions which await reprinting). Please also do read the top paragraphs of the index to understand how it will help you navigate the site. (This index can also be reached by clicking on the “Past Releases, Still Available” icon on the Navigation bar.

You do not need to order through the website; if you prefer you can simply reply to this email and briefly list the albums which interest you. Please provide information such as your name and the country from which you are writing (and the state if you are living in the US). We’ll then respond with an invoice and details as to our payment method. (Sets are $14.50 per disc plus postage, in Canadian dollars.)

NEWEST RELEASES

We would now like to introduce three new releases. Immediately following this email, we will send three emails, each with a PDF of a flyer about the title. Please double click on the image so that you can view the PDF in Adobe Acrobat to see its real colors and layout. These three will have reviews from Fanfare in early August. All the other sets shown on our website have been reviewed.

REMASTERS

We’ve updated our Remaster List (http://immortalperformances.org/documents.php?d=8). This can also be accessed by clicking on “Remasters” in the Navigation Bar. Two of the most important updates are to the Tannhäuser Met 1936 (IPCD 1039-4) and Der Fliegende Holländer, Covent Garden 1937 (IPCD 1051-2).

Huh, I did not know about this label, though I have ordered many Toscanini discs from Guild. Thanks for posting.

Quite a lot in their catalog. Do you have any recommendations for their Toscanini releases?

Six new releases have just been announced via email from Immortal Performances Recorded Music Society in British Columbia.
