I've always loved nr 4 best. And frankly I don't see a problem that needs to be fixed by talking about this work as if it falls short in any way. It's a self-defeating strategy.

And John Gavin is that sort of liberal who when Israel tries to destroy Hamas argues for "understanding both sides". Sure, we should also understad Hitler and his helpers, and ISIS and its helpers. Ofc John ;)

Me too! I imprinted on the composer's version which is beyond marvellous. It suited his piano style perfectly.
