I just listened to this concert on Medici. Of Klaus Mäkelä I've heard
plenty - but not any of his performances. The opening work was the
Hebrides overture, which was well played, but bland and uninflected. It
seemed like one of Rattle's unmemorable performances, with little
attention to phrasing and lacking in character and drive.

But I agree the Eroica was much more impressive - a fine performance
with impact and momentum.
