The slowness of Celibidache's dreadful interpretation of Bruckner 4 contributes nothing positive, in my opinion; to me, this music sounds neither 'grand' nor 'majestic' but pretentious and dull.

The 1993 is OK so far, but I hear a too quiet moment
at a certain part in the first movement for me but maybe
that's the way it's supposed to be.

I just listened to the 1993 recording on YouTube

and

was unable to synchronize it with my inner clock.

Too slow.

The music falls apart.

The ingredients of the musical dish

aren't properly

combined, don't interact much.

The whole becomes less than the sum of its parts.

The climaxes are not worth the wait.

That's not poetry, of course, not even bad poetry.

Again, the music performed in this manner doesn't sound 'grand' or majestic' to me, or 'spiritual', but pompous, pretentious, dull,

FAIL (I suppose CELIBIDACHE was a commercial success, at least by the standards of Bruckner recordings; I fell for it myself and bought the EMI Bruckner box many years ago.)

I'm not sure what the correspondence is with the EMI recording, but I think that one is fantastic. YMMV, of course. And I would not say slow is the only way. Furtwangler and Jochum's approach to this one is very satisfying, too. What I'm sure I would not like is fast and metronomic.
