As to Moby Grape, I did not catch them in their home town, but on their Febr 1969 European tour. They were a quartet back then, Skip Spence was out, unfortunately. You don't want to know how underage I was at the time... If it helps I went to two no-show Jimi Hendrix concerts at the time, too. Did get to see the original Peter Green Fleetwood Mac.

One of the Grape guys was wearing a short fur coat as was fashionable for rock guitarists (see Brian Jones et al), no matter how hot the lights were.. They looked real uptight and there wasn't a whole lot of spoken word between the songs.

Looking for an alternative to Google Groups has been quite a revelation, given the fact that most NNTP discussion groups are moribund or dead. It appears that Usenet is now mostly used as a means of publicising binary files available for download, often disreputable ones like porn or pirate videos.

Well, that's the part that uses up computer resources, and so costs
money. So it's commercial. Text Usenet & binary Usenet are
practically different entities. Few users in common, as I understand.

The real "problem" (if there is one) is that a
lot of the information that could only be found
on r.m.c.r. years ago is now easily findable on
the internet through search engines. Many music
publications that were available during the 1990s
only as printed matter only are now available on
line. One no longer needs to read reviews when
most recordings can be sampled on line. One no
longer needs to listen to DH in order to figure
out which recordings to buy or to skip.

Given that Steamboat Willie 1927 (Mickey Mouse's first appearance) has just
run out of copyright. I can't imagine any 50s/60s cartoons out of copyright
yet.

US copyright is 95 years. There are no 1950s/1960s cartoons that have run out of copyright.

A 1960 cartoon would be rights free in 2055.

Your eyes have functions for ignoring anything you don't
like or want to read. No need for bureaucratic intervention
to protect anyone's vision or brains.

Also note that irritating people is one way of making a
difference, well tested and time proven by Mark Twain,
Oscar Wilde, GB Shaw, Rowan Atkinson and others.
