Interesting. I mean, it's hard for me to know what "news/media"
to believe anymore, so I tend to believe none.

I was born in 1961, and thus a bit too young to be too much more than
naive about such. I was a bit late to the Beatles (i.e. still working
on walking correctly instead of screaming toward idols from a front
row seat...), and happened to fall in with some middle/high school
buddies in a similar place with respect to that history, but we
tended to be more reverential than thinking about it too seriously.

So John will always have a special place in my heart. But I'm never
good with extremely wealthy people becoming preachy about things they
could at least partially solve by "come(ing) together" and sharing
excesses they clearly don't need to have a satisfying existence.
