R.E.D. had so much potential; take away the limitations of transformation, and use that freedom to design the ultimate representation of the robot mode.

Instead we got rubbery plastic, nerfed features, and reduced poseability for a price comparable to a mainline figure that has better plastic, accessories, and transformability.

What was the point? Why did Hasbro phone it in?

Enter Yolopark, a HK-based model company with the official license from Hasbro for Transformers. They've been releasing high end model kits for the movie lines for some time now, but with Rise of the Beasts, they outdid themselves with a new line called AMK.

The AMK line consists of three characters from the movie; Prime, Bee, and Primal. And sweet Primus, they are fantastic.

First off, they're not real model kits, they're Build a Figures, which is good for the terminally uncoordinated like myself. Snap together the limbs, head, and torso, and you're done - the work of literally a minute.

Second: the quality. Dear Lord, the quality. The plastic is solid and sturdy. Not a loose joint to be found despite relying as much on pegs as on pins.. The sculpting is as detailed as you could ever want. The paint applications are well done and spot on. The articulation is robust; unlimited poseability is just one of the many strengths of the line.

Third: the sheer shelf presence. Bumblebee in particular looks almost alive, like the design from the Bumblebee movie translated to reality.

Fourth: price. Unbelievably, each figure runs about $30, give or take. Cheaper than a mainline voyager.

These things make R.E.D. look like dollar store knockoffs. It's unbelievable.

Cons? Some.
- Scale: they're in scale with each other, but slightly out of scale with mainline.
- Lack of accessories: Primal comes with his two swords, but Prime and Bumblebee come without any weapons. However, Yolopark has responded to the outcry and promised to release accessory packs for all three for free with upcoming figures in the line (Rhinox, Scourge, and Cheetor from ROTB are up next).
- RoTB-verse: all the figures are from RotB. However, they've just run a successful campaign for an AMK Pro line, which will be inaugurated with a G1 Megatron.

Bottom line: unless transformation is a requirement, pick up these figures while you can and hopefully spur them to release an entire line based on G1.. The original three RoTB bots have gone in and out of stock due to unprecedented demand. If they can maintain their quality and their pricing moving forward, I and many others will gladly open our wallets and buy everything they release. There hasn't been anything official with this much value for money in a very long time.
