So I never thought I'd get the King Posiedon set, or be able to afford it. The individual Seacons were sold through Pulse, but never all available at the same time, and I was afraid of missing one so I didn't order any. They were $35+ each, ending over $40 after tax, and probably $50 after shipping. Well they're sold out on Pulse now, and Amazon has them at over $500 for a set. For a Combiner Wars sized Combiner that Hasbro did every photography trick to make look as if the limbs were Voyager sized.

But this was the BW2 God Neptune set. I assumed they were even rarer for this box set. I don't have this color scheme. I'm very happy with my purchase..

Well it's around $200 free ship on Ebay, but someone brought one in to the shop, with US Hasbro CW Devastator and SDCC Devastator. I knew he wouldn't last long, so I bought him full price. Two days later we had a sale better than the employee discount, and neither Devastator was still there for that so I assume God Neptune wouldn't be there either.

It's a plain tan shipper box, once opened he has a black sleeve on a tan box, but the shipper box is the only thing sealed. It's a big flat box, I'd say a pizza box for reference, though I hate fish on my pizzas. Inside the box that opens like a pizza box each Seacon is in a clear plastic tray surrounded by their own individual accessories. Top left is Halfshell/Turtler/Snaptrap, with the combiner feet, his gun, shield, and sword, to his right is Terrormander/Kraken/Seawing with 3 guns, a sword, and a fist, then bottom left row is Sea Phantom/Overbite with a fist, sword, and gun, then in the bottom center is Coleagon/Skaalor with a third fist, his tail gun, 2 other guns, and a sword. Then lastly, bottom right, is Scylla/Tentakill,with a 4th fist and 2 guns and a sword.

The guns for Terrormander, Coleagon, and Scylla each have 2.5 pegs and a 5mm socket, and each combines with it's pair gun to make the .5 peg into a whole peg. There are so many connection points for all of them.

The smaller sword each limb Seacon has forms the top of the combiner sword which stacks quite nicely on top of Halfshell's sword. The guns, except Coleagon's tail gun, all connect to the sides of Halfshell's big gun, it has 10 5mm holes and 5 5mm posts to mount gun, You can add Coleagon's tail if you want, but it's not in the official configuration.

So Terrormander/Seawing is a heavy mod of PotP Cutthroat. To me this one is the least like his G1 self. Instead of a tail off the back of his wing, he's got a big block of folded up legs. He's loaded in a bit backward from his g1 self. His head is in the manta ray head, instead of the manta head forming the feet like in G1. His hands fold under flaps from the chest/head to form the sides of the manta head, and the wings, like always are just wings. He's got he same legs, tail, and feet of Cutthroat. With the feet so far back, his feet are under about 20% of the figure with the other 80% just out over open air, making it a bit unstable. His guns plug into the wings and he has a third gun that can go on top of his manta head.

Sea Phantom/Overbite is a heavy retool of PotP Ripprsnapper. Which makes Sense, they were both sharklike in G1. Again, like Terrormander, this guy loads in backwards from his G1 self, with his back half forming the legs and his shark head ending up as a backpack instead of on his feet. His robot mode arms are his shark arms, which I guess is good after so many G1 Overbites have lost their shark arms. Like Rippersnapper his robot hands just rotate 90 degrees for some claws with a hand under them. Unlike Rippersnapper, his shark mode feet are giant boats and don't really fold out of the way for robot or combined mode. There are supposed to be some shoulder pins going through the chest that seem to be missing from mine. I think one side they glued but forgot to glue the other, but it's seated in there pretty tight, it takes a bit of force to pop that shoulder piece out. Sea Phantom is the only Seacon limb bot to only have 1 gun for some reason. If you flip down the chest plate cover the gun, with one of it's 5mm ports, fits quite nicely under-slung, though the instructions say to have the gun facing backward on one side of the fin, with the sword facing backwards on the other side of the fin, and the combiner fist/armor on the back behind the fin.

Coleagon/Gulf/Skaalor is a Blot retool, making 3 of 4 Terrorcon retools.Nobody loved Sinnertwin enough for a retool. Colaegon once again is loaded in upside down from his G1 self. Piranha head backpack is rather massive. He'd the most shell-former in this set His robot mode legs become the back, his arms and robot head end up inside the fish head. When I unboxed him in fish mode, the robot arms were very neatly loaded inside the shark head in a way I cannot seem to replicate, the instructions are not useful here. They still go in there quite nicely, but not as nicely as the packaged version. His tail ha a gun that flips out, and plugs int the robot butt and is stabilized by the robot thighs. Blot beast feet work very well for this fish bot. In addition to the tail gun, he has 2 big cannons that mount on the fish back, and the combiner fist plugs a thumb into the side of and wraps around the top of the tail.

Scylla/Tentakill has to be my favorite. It's a retool of a retool of a mold I grew to hate. Scylla is a retool of Moonracer, and of course PotP Moonracer became all girls for the next 2 years, which is why I grew to hate it. I don't hate girls, I just hate that every girl in the line was this same mold which was an objectively bad mold. How do you fix it? Well apparently you turn the space car girl into a male tentacle demon, and then into a female tentacle demon. Double sex change. This one is loaded correctly compared to the G1 character, with the top of the squid forming the feet, and the robot head on the bottom. Also like the G1 most of the tentacles are on flat pieces hinged to the sides. Unlike the G1, the robot arms become 2 extra tentacles, with double hinged pieces to become the hand covers. The squid face does become a backpack, but it's a backpack the fraction of the size of an entire space car. I find it kind of cool that the squid head can turn side to side, and with the arm, we've got an articulated squid which is rather cool. The guns can plug into the sides of the squid head, just like g1, or plug in behind the squid head, or combine to plug into the top of the squid he. The instructions say to plug the combiner fist in behind the squid head, and the fingers show up over the top, making a white squid with a teal mullet. Perfect.

Halfshell/Turtler/Snaptrap is a retool of Hungrr, which is a retool of Silverbolt. It's a massive change. The only things not to be majorly change are the robot arms. The robot legs feet fold up into the legs, he has some articulated weapon mounts on the robot legs that the back cannons plug into for robot and combiner mode, he has the combiner head plug into the robot back but not as flush as the others, but it doesn't matter, because it's on the back or covered by the shield. The shield has so many configurations. His robot chest is the turtle head and forelimbs, they fold out to be a bit small in turtle mode, with a neck hinge prone to popping off, but it still looks right. The shell is a true tribute to his G1 part, but the blades come off. I can even put them on opposite sides or leave them off to make him more turtle like.

The hands (all four of them) have 1 thumb instead of the 2 thumbed PotP hands they're based on, with a double joint in the center to flip the thumbs from side t side. The feet each have gatling guns on the sides that fold in to form double barrelled guns for Halfshell . They also have gold toe plugins on the feet that come off, but I don't know what else I wold put them on.. None of the individual bots have a place for these gold toes.

I don't know much about God Neptune as a character, since the only series he appeared in I can't find any translation for (everything that claims to be a translation loses it's subtitles after episode 4) so I don't know if he has a static combiner configuration, but it seems to be Coleagon and Sea Phantom as arms, and Terrormander and Scylla as legs. It's a great looking combiner, but a little inaccurate since the fish heads end up on the shoulders not on the wrists. It's a standard CW size combiner, the Neptune head has side fins that fold out on a hinge, the guns mount on the back and you can adjust the length of the cannons on the back in case you want to slowly replicate the g1 cannon motion.

His instructions don't have individual limb weapon configurations, for obvious reasons, and it doesn't show individual weapons mounted to the bot in limb modes, again for obvious reasons.

Still a very nice combiner. Seriously competing for my favorite It would have been a shoo-in if there was a Nautilator, but Japan doesn't like Crawdads apparently.

This was a great distraction from only beng able to find G2 Laser Cycle from the Deluxe case of Toxitron wave. Tons of Grimlock, Cloudcover, Toxitron, but people want all the non motorcycle Deluxes.

I haven't checked Seacon prices in a while now. Overbite alone looks like he's still going on eBay for around $200. So crazy.

I'm not super happy about his very bird-like legs, and the creature head ending up on the robot chest is different from what I'm used to. But, the G1 Seawing toy had such awful legs that just about anything different would be an improvement.

I think that was deliberate. It's been a while since Rippersnapper was released, so I no longer clearly remember, but I remember noticing that on one of those toys. Rippersnapper or Blot or Overbite or somebody. Ugh. This is going to bother me now, until I dig through boxes of toys and try to re-teach myself whatever it is that I'd noticed about them. I vaguely remember talking to Gustavo Wombat about it.

> Coleagon/Gulf/Skaalor is a Blot retool, making 3 of 4 Terrorcon retools.

Blot is very squarish, and Skalor was a very round-looking toy, so mashing the two together resulted in a kind of inelegant-looking fusion. But, I guess it worked out okay.

"Hey, I bet this Moonracer toy would make a great Tentakil," said absolutely nobody ever. Talk about thinking outside the box. Give that guy at Takara a raise.

> Halfshell/Turtler/Snaptrap is a retool of Hungrr, which is a retool of Silverbolt.

Fun fact: Every single toy since 2016 has been a retool of Silverbolt. It's just a matter of degrees. (Many toys were retooled 100%. Some slightly less so.)

I honestly feel like Snaptrap was such a colossal failure. I can appreciate what they were trying to do, and they were (apparently) super limited by budgetary constraints. But, ugh. He's such garbage. A terrible, awful, shitty toy.

Nautilator got kicked off the team for the 1988 Hasbro gift set release, too. Not sure what it is about the poor guy that keeps getting him ousted.

I will keep tabs on Walmart shipments and let you know if we get any of the Deluxes in stock.
