There's one too many stories struggling to be seen in this novel. It
should be separated into a short story about ice nine and a novella set
in the Caribbean.
Stupidity seems substantially stupid to me these days - humorless.
While sarcasm and satire seem angry, mostly mean, unfunny.
Your reward for reading this far is a link to a short story about a
another catastrophe caused by changing the characteristics of ice:

"4: Cat’s Cradle lost to Way Station, and placed behind Glory Road,
Witch World, and Dune World. That’s a pretty diverse lineup. No, I am
not planning on rereading Glory Road just to add that final link."

I have "Glory Road" in my SBR and plan on rereading it soon. Maybe even
this year.

I must have read that half a dozen times. I still think of it as his best novel between
"Double Star" and TMIAHM.

I lost my copy in The Great Flood of 1989 and had forgotten about it
until somebody here reminded me. For some reason, almost all of my
Heinleins were at the bottom of the wardrobe box that had 12 inches of
water in it. I lost thousands of books that day.
