I liked this somewhat more than you did, enough to read it a second time.

I'm not at the Zelazny, and definitely not at the Niven level of appreciation, though.

The fantasy conceit that produced the demons was original, and I always wanted
to know more about Ominor's rise to power. I hoped the swords books would throw some
light on this and other questions, but after a good start they went downhill fast (IMO) and I missed
most of that series.

I have certainly read worse books in general and much worse ones by
Saberhagen. I own his Octogon, for example, presumably to punish
myself for some egregious sin.
