He looks very good if a bit awkward due to his posing in the stock image, it seems his chest can open as a reference to "Changing Gears" (does not come with his special circuit though 0/10)

Pickup Truck mode also looks alright if a bit squished up. which is what it's supposed to look like so props there.

Robot mode looks great.

What is up with the sides of that truck? The big unsightly (hinge?) welts sticking out?

I can make my peace with the light blue windows -- its a weird bit of animation accuracy where the animation is attempting to represent something in the real world. I prefer black, or metallic blue paint, but that's minor, and light blue is better than translucent a lot of the time.

And its really weird to go for an animation colored windows when the number of windows doesn't even match the animation model. The larger cab looks good, and more modern, but if they're changing that... anyway, it's weird.

But the sides of the vehicle looking like nothing more than folded up robot parts and hinges? Ugh.

I will probably skip this, unless I am feeling like buying a Gears action figure that doesn't get transformed, which is possible, because I do enjoy our grumpy friend as a character, and this hits the robot mode better than the Thrilling 30 toy (or was he after T30?)

I'm a lot more forgiving of compromises in robot mode than vehicle mode, at least when the compromises make it look like its not a vehicle. A transformer has to look like *a* robot that can transform into *a* vehicle, and then I can accept all sorts of compromises on what the robot and vehicle look like. Hinges along the outside that breaking up the vehicle... kind of a deal breaker for me in nearly every case.*

It's like when they have a clear windshield and painted side windows. It just forever bothers me.

*: I *am* liking the look of the Reactivate toys, despite visible hinges and things like that, because they are meant to resemble our G1 friends rebuilt from scraps by puny humans so they should be ugly. If anything, I wish they did more to make them look wrong and cobbled together.

The third-party photographers that Hasbro outsources for the stock images just don't know how to make the toys look cool sometimes. It's like anti-advertising.

But, I am super excited about this toy. The robot mode is pretty much exactly what I was envisioning. I love his colors and his styling and his surly little face sculpt. It's perfect. (The way they've got him all mangled and mistransformed just to stuff him in the packaging is kind of awful. More anti-advertising!)

I will admit the truck mode bothers me a little. But, I guess it's close to what the G1 Gears toy would look like if it were de-chibified and un-Penny Racer'd. People are saying he looks like a GMC Topkick and I'm hard pressed to disagree.

I was reading that Sureshot may have been cancelled or delayed, since there are new retailer solicitations in which he's alarmingly absent from the case assortment. I hope we're still getting him in some capacity.
