Has anybody read "The Moon Maiden" by Garrett P Serviss?
It was serialized in Argosy in 1915 and published in book form
in 1978. According to the Science Fiction Encyclopedia
"it is a dubiously complicated love tale in which it is
revealed that lunar beings have been Uplifting us for
millennia."

The Online Books Page doesn't list any copies of Argosy
in the Internet Archive for 1915. I notice that the 1978
date for the book publication is the same year that Argosy
ended. A Google Books search for the book turns up nothing.

I learned a little about it, but indeed couldn't find any copies.

Apparently it was Garrett P. Serviss' last published science-fiction story.

In a 1949 issue of a science-fiction pulp magazine, one letter to the editor
notes that its author was waiting to re-read that story for 34 years without
success.

Also, it was reprinted in 1978.
