Looks like Takara's developing a Powermaster Optimus Prime for the Masterpice toy line... or, more specifically, Super Ginrai, who is technically a different character:

So far, the truck cab looks like it's being sold by itself as MP-60, with the trailer sold as a separate accessory (and probably the God Bomber component as well, but that hasn't been revealed yet).

The trailer still unfolds into a base, like the G1 toy, and it looks like it has a functional Powermaster gimmick, in which the toy is "locked" in place until the engine is attached, unlocking the transformation.

The Masterpice toy line has been stuck almost exclusively updating 1984-85 characters, with very few exceptions, so it's fun and different to see them explore characters and updates from different eras. And, of course, as an Optimus Prime toy (sort of), it will sell tremendously well.

Looks like no stickers or very minimal factory applied ones. The base mode could use them with all that devoid of detail flat plastic.

I wonder if the rear trailer door ramps down like the original and if they'll make the head transformable. I remember reading the original G1 super head was meant to transform into Roller. It would be neat if they did that with the MP. But that would probably have been shown in these slides already.

Is this not getting a US release? It's up for pre-order on Japanese
websites like Amazon JA and HobbyLink Japan and nowhere else.
