Numerous sources report the death of SF author Brian Stableford. This
has been a terrible year for SFF.

While I suspect I reread his Daedelus books most often, my favourites were
the David Lydyard books. I should reread them.

Sad to hear. He wrote some good books, and never a disappointing one.

I enjoyed the Daedelus books but have never reread them. Perhaps I
should. Though I suspect that my old DAW copies were, if well printed,
not well bound.

His dedication to the cause of bringing older French speculative fiction
to English-speaking readers was certainly admirable.

Another DAW (the man) winning choice.

I liked the Grainger books, despite the very-70s zeitgeist. I tried one
or two of the Daedelus books, but never really clicked with them.

He had another searies where the earth was enclosed in a shell with the
elite on the new surface and the hoi polloi underneath that was interesting.

I also noticed a recurrant image across a number of his books of watching
a city be born, come to greatness, decay and disappear from some sort
of godlike fast-time vantage point.

RIP. I do not that that I have read any of his books.

I read the Grainger books, _probably_ in German translation in an
omnibus edition. I liked them well enough that I wanted to eventually
re-read them, but never got around to it.

I have read the Daedelus books and _Clash of Symbols: The Triumph of

I reread (after a 30 year gap) the Daedelus series during lockdown -
must give the Graingers a try at some point.
