Starting with
[https://www.washingtonpost.com/doonesbury/strip/archive/2024/2/27]
we appear to be seeing a /new/ daily sequence!

Note: that link works here, which is a big surprise since a firewall
usually appears, but if you get a firewall, try
[https://www.washingtonpost.com/doonesbury/] for today's strip.

Note that the current strip shows no date. The archived strips show
[1900] -- which is a bit old, even for Doonesbury.

It shows 1900 when I bring it up. And it is part of a continuing series.

The current one references "President Clinton", so apparently it's not
new, just not dated properly.

Oh, well.

He's still alive - if that matters -
but I think I see a copyright date
of 2000.

The topic, that being "nominated" for
a position of prestige may be no particular
honor, applies to President Trump, who
appeared not to know this, though I suspect
he nominated himself for some of those
things - genuinely as well as meaninglessly.
The Nobel Committee for instance doesn't
name nominees - so that is the only way
that he'd know. Unless President Putin
did it and told him. To be clear, you
don't have to be President of anything to
nominate for that prize. So maybe Donald is
just at this moment hearing that from me.

The original was from 2000:

Thanks for confirming this.

I guess they've stopped marking them with the original publication
date.

Or I've imagined them so marking them all these years since Trudeau
stopped doing new daily strips.

The GoComics strips have the year in the copyright statement in the
gutter between the panels. It's typical to remove the day indicator and
add a current one for reruns.
