I've just received a genuine looking email from hello@message.bt.com to let
me know that I'll be switched over to Digital Voice in the next 30 days.

But I'm in Lancashire, not the East Midlands, where they are supposed to
be having the trial; and I'm not eligible for a free adaptor according to
bt.com/DVequipment which redirects to
store.ee.co.uk/other-pages/bt-customer-offers/bt-digital-voice-customer?ReferrerID=BTDV

Will anyone know where they are actually rolling out ?

First question, you have a BT Broadband Hub ?  If so, is there a phone
socket on the back ? (may have a paper label over it )
Not to be confused with the socket that currently ( and still will)
connect to the wall socket (via a filter)

Yes, BT Smart Hub 2 with a Green phone socket. Wall socket is recent
enough to not need a filter.

Do the headers all look genuine? Post here (with your email removed if
it's different from the genie one) and people will comment ...

Then it should be the case that on the changeover day, you simply
remove the phone from the wall socket, and stick it in the green Hub socket.

That's fine, assuming the wall socket, hub, and your phone are all in
the same place !

I suspect though, you also have phone extensions, in which case things
are a bit more complicated, but not insurmountable with the advise of
this group !?

The headers also have lots of email marketing trackers which I'm not
going to publish, as does the content itself, even the 'report phishing' link
(btconsumer.imicampaign.io/externalaccessweb/TrackURLSrv?campaignkw=...)

Return-Path: <.....@eu-west-1.amazonses.com>

X-Originating-IP: [23.251.239.16]

Received: from e239-16.smtp-out.eu-west-1.amazonses.com (23.251.239.16)

List-Unsubscribe: <mailto:unsubscribe@us-sprint.com;...?

... so I don't think we can conclude anything definite there.

Surprised BT don't run their own email server, but that does correspond
to their SPF record ...

Does bt.com/mybt have anything to say? You might find if you look at
orders in progress it will say what is happening.

Nothing in my BT, but I have also received a snail mail, and both read
'We’ll be back in touch to give you an exact date of your switch over'.

'BT community' suggests that the phone number lookup for DVEquipment does
not work, you have to ring up to get an adaptor / digital home phone.

I've now received an email with an order reference, and "We'll activate
it on 24 Aug 2023 and get you up and running within 48 hours". The webpage
now gives me a voucher code for a free adapter.

Today, there was an email around 3am with 'your Digital Voice home phone
service is ready.' Text message around 9am with 'Your broadband is now
ready to use.' Hub shows DSL connection time as 00:27

I do still have dialtone on the old connection, but then 'the number you
have called is not recognised'.

Plugging a phone into the smart hub and trying 1471 gives 'You have no
new calls to return'

Registering one Panasonic DECT handset on the smart hub does give
noticeably clearer 'You have no new calls to return' as well as immediate
dialing without waiting for a dail tone.

Smart Hub 'Technical log' shows VOIP / SIP events, but does not give CLI.
