didn't want to pay any rent and started shooting up the town when cops
came to kick him out.

I don't place much stock in the "oh, he was a military vet" card, as if
that in itself imparts some form of righteousness. Says nothing if he
was even honorably discharged [probably not] and most blacks were just
cooks or restroom attendants anyhow.
