I think you surely have to grow up surrounded by violent crime to be able
to kill someone like that. It's like a soldier that's been habituated to
violence. I don't think it's really or not maily caused by poverty or
even a 'broken society'. Nothing anyone could offer them would ever be as
cheap and easy as threatening someone or just stabbing them.

Plenty of immigrants have arrived at NYC (and elsewhere) over the years,
to suffer poverty and racism; but they worked hard, were generally very
non-violent, and have moved on and climbed the social ladder. Check
out Nobel Prize winners whose parents were handymen and housewives.

Koreans, Chinese, Jews, Irish, Italians... yes there was organized crime,
but it was never nearly violent as this animal we're talking about
here, and as a rule, they did not hurt "civilians", only each other.

Why is that?

You need to talk to people who are living in desperate poverty, have no future, and really don't care any more, wouldn't care if death took them tomorrow, would consider it a relief.

And it's far worse in the US than it is over here.

It's that poverty and broken society which seeds the conditions for living amongst violent crime.

That doesn't explain why other minorities started even lower and made their
way up. Plus, the Govt. is pouring loads of money to help these people;
nothing works.

Blacks were denied civil rights until the 1960's and have faced difficulty exercising them ever since.

You don't undo the hatred of over 300 years of enslavement, almost a 100 years of officially sanctioned oppression and segregation, with 50 years of pretending blacks have the same rights and opportunities as whites.

Of the 40 million blacks in America just a handful have broken out of the poverty and destitution White America forced upon them. Many of those trying to secure rights and opportunities for blacks were assassinated by White America. Many more were murdered by whites simply for being black.

Blacks faced almost 200 years of lynchings, organised white groups have persistently tried to drive them out and kill them. The last black lynching was as recent as 1980.
