I dunno what is at Brize Norton, but Mildenhall has loads of em.

Brize Norton seems to be more a transport hub.

So that would seem to be UK refuellers whereas Mildenhall has the
stratotankers foir the USAAF.

My understanding is that the US planes were carrier-based, while the
UK planes flew from Cyprus, presumably Akrotiri. Whether the UK planes
could fly all the way to the southern end of the Red Sea and back
without refuelling, I don't know.
