Setting up Thunderbird on a new PC and using Plusnet Groups as I always have, I was surprised to find uk.d-i-y not listed. While I attempt to find out why that's changed, I'm trying www.novabbs.com: is anybody else here using it?

Thanks.

This group is certainly carried on the Plusnet (outsourced Giganews)
servers, try a refresh group list ...

It's not my main news server, and Max seems correct, it's not responding
at the moment ...

To answer your original question: yes, sometimes.

I find it a bit idiosyncratic but more fun to use than the late,
unlamented Google groups.

Its rather primitive interface suits my rather primitive devices and
although I occasionally post from novaBBS I mostly use it to keep up
with posts through the day using an ancient mobile and then when
convenient I post replies from a laptop using Agent and Eternal
September.
