Question as above.

I am cluing a couple of pieces of board (edge to edge (don’t need a
massively strong bond).

Was being a bot cheap, so used PVA rather than epoxy…

Only thought after that I could have stretched some tape across the join on
both sides for a clamping action. As it is, the gap is covered with
sellotape on both sides just to stop leakage & seepage.

Will it cure?

Cure slowly?

Or mot cure at all?

A rubbed joint is a common method of joining boards with PVA. Applying glue
to both surfaces and rubbing the two surfaces uses atmospheric pressure to
hold the joint together. The joint will cure just like any other method
using PVA. It will however be weaker than a clamped joint as clamping tends
to make the PVA penetrate into the surfaces joined.

Yes

Might be slightly slower but not much.

The joint will probably be somewhat brittle and weaker than a clamped
one though. PVA has no real gap filling strength.

<Snip>

It worked!

Don’t know yet if it will be strong enough, but it seems good.

(This project has given me a new maxim….

Measure 3 times, cut 4 times….

Glue a bit back on

::-;))
