Isn't there something wrong with the table in that link. Uk is rated 3rd
most populated island in the world with 321 people/km2 but further down
the list there are entries with more people per km2.

It makes more sense just to take England, since that has all but about 10
million of the population. And for England it's around 430 per sq km,
according to Winky.

It's the same issue as with Libya, say. That's a vast country, but most
of it is desert, with practically zero population. The coastal regions
that are inhabited have a fairly high population density.

You seem to be confusing total population with population density. We
may have the third largest population for an island, but we are a very
long way form the most densely populated island (i.e. population per
square km)

Ex-pats I met in France always seemed to be looking for reasons to run
the UK down. It seemed to me to be a symptom of insecurity about whether
they had made the right choice.

Population density would have been high on my list, had I made one. This place
is packed out to beat hell. Metropolitan France is at 122/sq. km. Rather
better than England's 430. Then you wonder why there's no room for housing, or
railways, or other new infrastructure.

It observes the UK has almost double the percentage of non-European
