Even harder to see where he goes from here now he's been seen as favouring Judaism over other religions and secularism.

He can't even offer equal treatment to other religions as that would be completely contradictory to France's principle of secularism.

He must have thought it was a good idea for some reason. Maybe it's to
prove to France's Jews that they're a priority. He also possibly feared
how it might be portrayed if he didn't do it.

Many believe it was exactly that, and that's very problematical.

I am sure he did. I believe it was more to prove he supported Jews since legitimate criticisms he made on Israel's murders and slaughter, her war crimes and abuses, have been defined to be hate crime and anti-Semitic by Israel and her fanboys.

I am sure you have noticed there's been a very proactive campaign by Israel and her supporters to punish, cancel, side-line, and silence anyone who has any criticism of what Israel is doing.

Macron isn't immune from that. Nor any world leaders. Mandatory support of Israel is an existential threat to democracy and free will.

America knew that decades ago. It's why she chose to be Israel's bitch and unconditionally support her in anything she does, protect her from others who won't be Israel's bitch, as America has done since the State of Israel was created, still does today.

Macron is just trying to save his own skin. Just as Musk was forced to do when he flew into Israel after supporting far-right anti-Semitic conspiracy theories.
