(It also has occurred to me how much - international - money has been
spent on this search, for some rich folks* who presumably knew what risk
they were taking [and we've been told signed something saying so]. Of
course, I'm not really that nasty, and would actually have been
delighted if they'd been found alive. But I'm surprised no-one else has

* I _don't_ resent them being rich, or spending their money on this; I
could see me doing similar (well, say, paying for a trip in a Spitfire),
if I learnt I wasn't going to live much longer. I don't resent rich

People have pointed out elsewhere that the search for these people,
who the authorities knew were dead before the search began, is to be
compared with the refugees who are lost in boating accidents, when
trying to reach safety.
