Susan is hosting Brad and Geoirge, isn''t she? I hope Fallon will be
ok.
>Monday 10th - Tom faces a tricky dilemma, and Lynda is on a mission.

Maybe Lynda has taken a leaf out of Shula's book and joined a mission
to ...where do they go nowadays? Darkest Africa? Brazil?

>Tuesday 11th - Things come to a head at Berrow, and Harrison makes a

I do hope this is bad news for George, and Martin who sponsored him.
Looking at Thursday's spoiler makes me optimistic. Harrison wants to
make his mid-life change of job.

>Wednesday 12th - Tempers flare for the Carters, and Pip dreams big.
Neil tells Susan she is a misguided aunty. Reality is that her pet
grandson is horrible.

>Thursday 13th - Helen finds herself on the spot, and the fallout

I hope socially and in the workplace and what about a theft charge too
from Justin, who catches him at it.

Fingers crossed Fallon gets some change of job too that gives her
status, security and a chance to tell Tom and Nasty she is taking her
cafe elsewhere.

My aunt lived in Croxley Green in her later years, and became a Missionary

Fret ye not, it is still a pleasure to read it, even if the continuing
absence of Archers means it is not really the programme I wish to hear.

I thought Shula was in a missionary position in the North?

I reckon this is the week we learn that George Grundy has an Only Fans
account and has been using it to entice horny television presenters. The
clues are all there: what else do you think they mean by "things come to
a head" (fnarr, fnarr) and George's fallout is obviously linked to loose-
fitting Grundy underwear.

Other clues are elsewhere. Who else, apart from Eddie would seek to
capitalise on their child's misfortune by demanding an interview take
place on the BBC? And plainly the reason for the BBC refusal was Eddie's
insistence that the conversation had to take place in front of a "Grundy
World of Christmas" backdrop.

The BBC news headlines I heard earlier seemed to be hinting the large sum
of money was a pay-off for a blackmail attempt. I'm not sure the BBC should
be commenting on the story at all. Who decided they should and what other
story are they trying to distract from?

Looking through the BBC website earlier today there was (hidden in the
relevant "live stream" for this story an explanation of the standards
which the BBC applies to reporting on itself. BBC News feels that it
has to report on BBC matters and will seek to do so as independently as
possible was the gist but obviously were the presenter to be a member of
BBC news then it might all be a bit close to home (not that I know or
have any idea who the presenter might be).

Yes, I was going to say "the UK". Even in the '80s there were Mormons
here (I shared a boarding house with some - nice chaps), but even more
conventional Christian demoninations (TWATBILI) are sending missionaries
here lately, I gather.

Fnarr ... I've occasionally wondered why it _is_ a position favoured by
missionaries. I suppose one of the alternatives is considered bestial,
though there are many, so I understand.

At the bottom of the current story about this on the BBC website
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-66150845
...there is a box which reads:
How does BBC News cover stories about the BBC?

With stories like this one, BBC News journalists treat the BBC in the same way as any other organisation the news service reports on.

And like with any other organisation, BBC News has to ask BBC management or BBC services for responses and contact the BBC press office for official statements.

Occasionally BBC journalists approach senior managers for unplanned interviews - known as "doorsteps" in the news business.

They sometimes also get offered interviews with management - like this one with Mr Davie over the Gary Lineker row.

And when this happens, they know they'll be scrutinised within and outside the BBC over how well they hold their boss to account.

But don't let any of this distract anyone from considering your application
for a BTN!!!

...or for considering the one I put in for Clive a few days ago

Nor I, nor do I care but I did think when I kept hearing "not named"
yesterday that it probably wasn't too difficult for someone to watch out
for a usual or in-the-listings presenter being absent.

I did post asking for clarification as my dull brain wasn't quite up to
understanding the context but heard nothing. That was after trying to as
offline to two of your email addresses that had been advertised in the
past (though not the one in your .sig) and failing.

Sorry. I seem to have a lot of useless email addresses scattered about my past.
Including the Bigfoot one I still use for Google Groups. Remember Bigfoot "Your
email address for life"? It stopped working many years ago and because at that
time Google wanted confirmation from the old email address of your intention
to change to a new one, it was just too much like hard work to try and alter the
account.

I have a hotmail address which still works - unless it's co.uk in which case it doesn't.
I have been using nickodell49@yahoo.ca for usenet and now I've taught myself to
check the spam folder more regularly stuff should get through. Anything with
Dircon, ntlword, freeuk or Plusnet (and possibly a few others I don't remember)
are all definitely dead.

I'm surprised your freeuk account is dead, my two both still work, in spite
of my being unable to connect to their server since I switched to broadband
in 2008.

Okay, in the case of freeuk, just abandoned. Dead to me.
Others may be unrescuable because the rescue accounts have gone.

If you want to look at your freeuk accounts via broadband, try:

https://webmail.freeuk.com/

It will present itself as Claranet but if you enter your freeuk
username and password, it should work

I thought it must be something to do with Stop The Boats but it wasn't
quite clear enough. I'll accept it belatedly, partly because there's so
little Bad Taste going on round here at the moment, I really need you
chaps to step up and seize the biscuit.

I know, I get the umra one collected by gmail but sometimes take a look at
the other in case something has arrived which was not spam.

The bit about not connecting to the server was mentioned because, when I
signed up to them, it was necessary to 'dial in' to them a couple of times
a year to be sure of keeping them and the web-space which came with them,
available. Both websites are still there too, although I removed most of
the Labyrinth content and stuck it on Plusnet when I signed up with them.

The problem lies in updating the umra one, for which I must be connected to
Claranet. But, as I suspected, the lack of updates greatly reduced the
number of new nicknames and abbreviations being invented here...
