No real news but we've[1] made it to this year's stated 'destination' and are currently sat in a hotel in Chisinau.

Not sure how many miles Mark and Simon have done but I've just tipped over 4k on this trip (I started a week or so earlier at the end of last month and went through the centre of France to Spain for a few days then up to Dusseldorf to meet the other two in Wurzburg).

No real dramas apart from last night when I took a pannier off my bike and set off campsite dominos with the R1200RT downing the Norden which broke its mirror on Mark's KTM. Sheisse.

Roads in Moldova predictably bad.

Transalpina, Transfagarasan closed but plenty of windy Romanian mountain pass type roads open and the tarmac is certainly getting better; much up to swiss standards with Georgian standards of policing (i.e. next to none) wish I'd ridden those roads on a sports bike a few years ago (when the tarmac would have been crap...)

We skimmed along the Ukrainian border for an afternoon or so as we moved from Moldova to Hungary.

Both Google and Garmin wanted us to go to Ukraine from Romania to get to Hungary rather than
staying in Hungary. A bit daft really since these systems should know enough to be able to build
in an allowance for the hassle of passing a border and going through the passport/customs rituals
(even if you do ride to the front of the queue).
