I have an old Coughtrie lamp from which I have stripped years of
hideously coloured paints. I am now looking to repaint it. Coughtrie are
happy to powder coat it for £50 or so, which seems a lot for something I
found, even though the new price is £150 or more.

So I have to decide - should I get it powder coated locally? There are
several companies in my area which offer this.

Or should I attempt to paint it myself? I've successfully resprayed
(with a can) various vehicles over the years to a decent standard so I
think I can manage this. Although the fins might be a challenge. I have
perused various sellers of paint and am still not sure which product I
should choose.

How do we know whether sig lives in France? They might not be able to
get chicory.

I like non-exclusive choices. I'm in GB and can still get real coffee so
no need for chicory substitutes yet. Given the current omnishambles we
may just skip the chicory step and go straight to acorn 'coffee'.

Far better, though not exactly coffee, is to uproot and wash thoroughly
a lot of dandelion roots and dry them in a cooling oven (after using it
for proper cooking...), then bake them with pearl barley until both are
a caramel colour

Grind these together (dandelion roots powder very readily) and treat as
ground coffee <HHGTTG> and they make a drink not entirely unlike coffee.
