And today it has happened. All BBC stations except World Service have
disappeared (even from the Yamaha CRX-N470D which is a current model).

2003? :)

Still got them on the Reciever iOS app. They did announce they'd be
switching them off this summer though.

Still being sold by Yamaha.

I can AirPlay from BBC Sounds on an iPad to the Yamaha though that's far
less convenient than pressing a button on the Yamaha's remote control.

Happy to note that all BBC stations are still available on Amazon Echo.

One can just hope that whenever the nuclear subs surface their Amazon
subscription lets them check the BBC is still broadcasting ;-)

If the subs can receive BBC R4 on long wave then the UK is still (just)
functioning, and has not been completely annihiliated by the nuclear
war. Or possibly, the Tory government has not closed down the BBC for
being too leftist!

Righto.

I find that I can play BBC stations on the Yamaha by Bluetooth
connection with an Amazon Echo.
"Alexa play BBC4. Alexa connect."
That's much handier than the iPad app/AirPlay.

The reason being that long wave signals can be received underwater
without the sub having to surface
