I've just finished reading (listening to) The Wife Upstairs by Freida
McFadden. Not far in, the connections with Jane Eyre popped into my head -
I seldom pay much attention to titles or might have considered it sooner.
The story unfolds with the coercive control aspects becoming more and more
obvious from the journal of the non-verbal, heavily sedated, paraplegic
wife, being read by the newly employed carer/companion character. However,
versions of the same events told by other people muddy the waters. Several
twists towards the end left me wondering who to believe.

I may have to reread Wide Sargasso Sea.

I can't remember when I stopped listening because of the Rob story but
I get the gist of the episodes from the BBC synopsis that goes up next
day and all the posts on fb and X :) about it. I've just finished
re-reading Humbridge too.I gave it to the farmer who swims at the pool
on Saturdays. Not sure if he'll read it but it will be interesting to
see what he thinks if he does. He did listento TA a little years ago.
he's in his 80s now and just stopped keeping cows for veal and beef.
Sadly his son doesn't want to farm. He still does crops now.
