I like the idea of adding the year after the "person". (1960 for me.) In
the same way we sometimes have "last post". Perhaps people can say their
year sometime, so it's no extra work for the BM? (And people secretive
about their age not say, though I don't think UMRA has many such coy
persons!)

Wow, so UMRA is 28. Not quite half my lifetime, but close (though I've
just counted it through - not for another 7).

28 is a splendid age to be.
My mother certainly though so, since she remained "28" even when her
youngest child was in his 50s.

Whenever any of my father’s pupils asked him his age when they were in the
playground, he would always tell them that he was ‘99’ and of course they
always exclaimed ‘Oh, you aren’t Sir!’

Pah! My mum was younger than your mum: she always maintained she was 25.

It would have been my mother's birthday yesterday. She would have been 103 and no doubt still protesting that she was only twenty-five.

The lady who had been Daily Help to my Grandmother and then my mother
for about 20 years altogether, then sometimes looked after my daughter.
Daughter, aged about 4, asked her how old she was. Daily Help, aged
about 59, said she was 21. "My Mummy's older than you - she's 26!"

Your Mum was indeed younger. Mine would have been 107 last month.
