That sounds reasonable!

Is there anywhere else on-line where you play?

Btw, have you ever read my 'Comments' in the area following this article?

I'd be interested in any thoughts you might have about the subject matter.

Seems like being delusional might not be the best approach but you do
you. Go with what you know.

BTW, calling yourself a 'good guy', when you're anything but, isn't
going to magically change you into a good guy.

that’s because you’re an idiot.

Have a look in the Logs folder, the Containers folder, the Application Supprt
folder, the various Synch folders... there may/may not be files, logs,
reports, malware definitions, other things, created by the app during normal
operations which would not necessarily be deleted when the app is
uninstalled. Better yet, if you use a backup system line Carbon Copy Cloner,
even if the files are deleted, CCC and similar will keep some items around
for a while in the Safety Net, there specifically to allow the recovery of
files which you might have deleted but want back. I have stuff in my CCC
Safety Net which are over two years old, I have a lot of spare space on my
CCC backup volume. A new install will find the old files pretty much
instantly. This is standard stuff. I have stuff in Application Support dating
back to 2005, even though this machine is a 2012 machine. Why? Because of the
way that I migrated my stuff, as I wanted to keep all my old prefs and not
have to redo everything. It’s A Feature, Not A Bug.

And you’re an idiot.

Whilst I may be an idiot, even *I* know that if one wipes a hard drive
thoroughly NONE of those items could survive.

So how DOES the ClamXAV software know that it has been 'trialled'
previously?

Have YOU tried it by the way?

except that I have zero confidence in your ability to do that.

because you’re an idiot. and incompetent. Hint: if you reformatted the
drive, did you generate a backup first? If not, you’re a bigger idiot than
I thought. If so, how did you use the backup to restore files? Was the backup
drive connected to the main system?

And, for the record... how, exactly, did you reformat the drive? Where you
booted up from another drive when you did so? (If you weren’t, I really
want to know how you did the reformat...) And what had been
installed/copied/merged onto that drive?

You’re am idiot.

I had ClamXAV on this system. I deleted it, it was too bloody slow. Some Clam
stuff, mostly plists, is still in various places on the volume. I don’t
give a damn. Plists can’t call home. Plists are litterally text files and
it’s trivial to see exactly what’s in there.

I found this ...... (on my computer - gone from the ASC forums!)

*EtreCheck Power Users - will YOU test please*?

Here's a copy of my computer storage as displayed in my EtreCheck report
run today.
This is VERY different to the result I posted about recently, here in
the ASC forums.

This is the actual thread:- Storage on hard drives - Apple Community

If you look there, you will see a small sector coloured RED
Another poster LD150’s Profile - Apple Community tested his computer and
he also saw the sector marked in RED. He dismissed same as it being
'nothing to worry about'!

I've since started my iMac in Recovery Mode, erased the hard drives,
re-installed macOS Monterey, Version 12.3 and have now run a further
EtreCheck scan. As you can see, there is no longer a RED sector.
I should be grateful if other readers here would test and display their
results. Thanks.

that’s because it isn’t anything to worry about. That’s sectors marked
bad on your drive. After a reformat, those sectors will not be available.

The sectors were probably bad sectors, and were mapped out. Every drive has
bad sectors. Typically there are spare sectors available, and you only start
losing space when you run out of spares.

You’ve discovered something which has been around since IBM invented the
very first hard drives in the 1950s. Congratulations. You’re an idiot.

Indeed. One day he'll discover lint in his navel. In a panic, he'll ask
everyone to check to see if they, too, have lint. If so, where did it
come from? What does it mean? Is it suspicious? Is it a hack?

God-damn. Since when is SIX O’CLOCK IN THE BLOODY MORNING ’this time of
your night’? You’re incapable of doing simple math and calculating time
differences. Learn to fucking READ HEADERS, fool.

From the headers:
NNTP-Posting-Date: Sun, 16 Jul 2023 09:56:03 +0000
Date: Sun, 16 Jul 2023 05:56:03 -0400

Note the fucking timestamps.

Damn, but you’re an idiot. And utterly barking mad.
