Hi:

Where are a file's comments (aka Spotlight Comments) stored? I get
conflicting info from various sites I look at, since it seems to have changed
with various incarnations of MacOS. Are they in the file itself (data or
resource fork?) or in some other file?

The reason I ask is that I have a disk which I mount using MacFUSE. Comments
which I added when I first built the disk are always there when I look for
them. Any new comments I add disappear when I unmount the drive.

Yet I've downloaded an AppleScript which will restore them file-by-file if I
know they're there, so they must be *somewhere*.

What's going on?

Oops from me now ....

So it seems best to put comments in the More Info section of Get Info
using a tool such as Metamer as the use of .DS_Store files cannot be
relied on.
